Can you REALLY change what you’re made of? (Answer Is YES)

Lose fat 2009

Remember when it was 1999 and we were only 1 year away from the new millenium?

I just realized the other day that it’s now TEN YEARS later. How did that happen? Where did the time go?

The older I get, the more I realize how truly precious time is and how it seems to go by quicker and quicker as we age.

The last few weeks have truly been a whirlwind in my life, hence my no-show on this blog for ages and ages.

But I have a good reason for it. Hear me out.

This last Sunday, I was blessed enough to experience of the most incredible things in anyone’s life – I got married!

My new bride and I had been feverishly taking care of all the last minute planning before we headed off, and then we flew out on Christmas day to New Orleans and got married in a small, intimate ceremony 3 days later with just our family and closest friends in attendance.

Beautiful, moving and breathtaking all at once…and that was just the bride! Seriously though, it was a magical time and it’s left me feeling optimistic and pumped for the year ahead.

And speaking of the year ahead, I’ve been in a more pensive mood than ever about what the future holds for me and this blog. Lately, I’ve been spening alot of time studying the blogs and speakers who really speak to me and inspire me every time I read them.

And I’ve noticed one thing about them.

They’re never the boring old blogs that can be found anywhere else. If you read the top blogs on the net you’re never going to find just another ’3 ways to lose fat’ blog post.

You’re never going to hear them recommending that you take the stairs or park further from a building in order to burn more calories and thus lose more weight.

Because that kind of post is boring. Everyone knows it. Everyone knows they need to walk more. Everyone knows they should be taking the stairs.

And so instead of being just another blog on the block that keeps on spouting the same things as everyone else, I’m going to do things differently.

I’m not going to give you the same fitness tips you’ve heard over and over again.

I’m not going to spend half the time trying to sell you on an upcoming post, and under-delivering content in the process (I know I’ve been very guilty of this to date). Actually, if I’m being totally transparent, a few people have read my posts or listened to my audio posts and said to me “so when do you actually tell us how to lose fat?”.

Ouch.

Painful but true.

So far, I’ve been alot of talk and not a whole lot of action (except for the glute activation video!). And that changes from this point on.

And another thing that will be changing is the real laser focus of this blog. I’ll still have posts that are directed at more general fitness and health tips, but on the whole I will be focusing on my favorite aspect of fitness for working professionals and the number one most effective way for time-strapped people to be losing weight and getting into great shape every day.

Micro workouts.

If you’ve never heard of them before, that’s because they’re a relatively new concept, but one that contains tremendous fat blasting power for those people who just don’t have time for a 40 minute work out every other day.

Here’s the idea in a nutshell.

Even the busiest person on the planet can find times during the day where they can set a few measly minutes aside. I’m not talking 30 minutes here.

I’m talking 2,3,4 minutes.

Maybe a little more.

Maybe even less!

Maybe your days are just so damn hectic that you can only afford to spend one minute every now and then on your workout routine.

Well, micro fitness is about doing exercise for that one minute, and then repeating it again and again throughout the day every time you have those couple of minutes to spare.

This way, whether you have 1 minute or 15 in which to work out, you have a targeted set of exercises that you can perform which automatically have built in progressive fat loss capabilities to harness the precious value of that time in your day.

Think about it. Let’s say you manage to scrape together 2 minutes here, 7 minutes there, 1 minute a little later on, another 5 minutes before you leave your desk, 3 minutes before bed. That’s 18 minutes of exercise in one day – all of it targeted specifically to help you lose fat, and none of it boring, tedious or impossible to find time for.

Try doing that every day and see what happens to your body. I double dare you.

Listen, I’m not saying that you can use this to completely replace your normal 30-45 minute workouts. Ideally, you’d use this as an auxiliary to them to really kick your body’s fat burning metabolism into gear.

But let’s say you’re having a really hectic couple of weeks and there just is no time for the gym. Using micro workouts is a fantastic strategy to make sure that you don’t lose all the gains that you’ve put so much work into achieving at the gym.

And let’s say you’ve been working out solidly and have just hit a plateau as of late. Those last few pounds just will not budge. Give micro workouts a try and watch those last pounds start to magically fall off.

In our increasingly fast paced society, micro workouts are the answer to the questions of every working professional, parent and busy person in the world – how do I make my workouts shorter and more effective?

Now you have the answer.

I’m going to really focus in this blog on the power of micro workouts for working professionals, including showing you real examples that I use myself every day and ways in which you can design your own micro workouts to take with you wherever you go – whether it’s a desk, hotel room, airport, or just for a few minutes after you put the kids to bed.

Super low maintenance, super high effectiveness.

Are you ready for the micro workout revolution? I am!

If you have any particular areas of micro workouts that you’d like me to explore, or you have any comments or input you’d like to share, please leave a comment below. I always welcome your input and I love hearing from readers!

It’s 2009. Welcome to the year of the micro workout.
