I hope you’re having a great time getting in shape, burning away that body fat and generally living life to it’s fullest.
Today I want to share with you another video that I recently recorded that busts a commonly accepted diet myth way out of the water.
It’s one of those widely accepted ‘truths’ that really are just complete nonsense, and as you know, I’m on a mission to read the world of all of the lies and untruths that we are fed about fat loss.
So without further ado, here is my take on one of the biggest myths around – the idea that you have to eat a low fat diet if you don’t want to be fat, which is simply not true!
As you can see from my argument in the video, you do NOT have to avoid dietary fat if you are trying to lose fat.
It’s an unfortunate thing that a valuable macronutrient and an undesirable body state, have the same name, but that’s about all they have to do with each other.
Yes, it’s true that dietary fat has more calories, but it’s also tremendously beneficial for your body to function and more importantly, it has not been shown that eating fat makes you fat!
Honestly, take a look at our society today. We have more people than ever eating low fat diets and yet we are fatter than we have ever been! The real enemy when it comes to weight gain is starchy, processed carbs. Cut those out and leave the healthy fats in. You’ll be glad you did!
Oh, and here’s a list of healthy fats for you to incorporate into your diet:
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Saturated fats in lean meat such as beef and chicken
- Avocados
- Olive, peanut, coconut and macadamia nut oils
- Fish oil

I’ve heard in the beginning of a weight loss plan you will usually lose water weight first.
How long does that take until you start burning fat?
How would you know if your burning fat and not just losing water weight?

Hey Mark,
Great question! It’s hard to really give you a definitive answer because it all depends from person to person.
However, one method that I would use to help track your results is to measure your body fat percentage before and after your weight loss. If you see that you have lost a bunch of weight but very little fat (and you also know that it’s not a bunch of muscle either), then you can probably deduce that most of it was water weight. However, if your body fat drops too, then you know it’s more than water weight.
Also, taking a good old fashioned look in the mirror usually answers most questions
If you can see a noticeable difference in how pudgy you look, then most likely the weight loss is from more than water.

i am 25 5’4″ my weight is 82 it has bin an year that its stuck there….i do intense workot n diet bt jus 4 a month nt even a kg drops so i get dishert n leave the routine for 2 weeks than later i realise that i hav to loose weight than i start the same procedure……it has bin like dis for an year bt wat i want to tell u that i dont loose weight :,( am so desperate caz ov this now besides all my efforts i dnt c a drop ov kg..plz plz help me

I know how frustrating it is to go what you’re going through…the best advice I can give is that nothing works in the long run without:
1) A plan
2) Persistence
You have to formulate an exact plan of what you’re going to do and follow through with it for a long period of time. Nothing comes from 2 weeks of random activity.
Keep focused and it will happen for you. Just don’t expect miracles overnight!
