But first, it’s been a whirlwind year with tons going on for me, and so I feel it’s only fair to update you as to where I’ve been for the last little while and why it’s taken so long between this post and the last one.
For the most part, I haven’t had much time to update the blog because I have been training like a maniac! A little while back I thought to myself that I was perhaps spending too much time reading, writing and learning about training as opposed to implementing those methods and using them to help real people in real life get real results, so I decided to take a little bit of a break from blogging and instead go all out to train as much as possible and see how much of the ‘theory’ panned out in the real world (as it turns out, some of it was true and some of it is better left in the textbooks – stay tuned for a future blog post that talks about this in more detail).
Anyhow, after many months of 12-16 hour days of nonstop training together with many conversations and observations of other coaches putting in their time on the gym floor I feel as though my knowledge of training has improved 1000% from where it was before and I’m ready to share it all with you loyal readers!
I also put in a lot of thought this year about my future path and where I want to go in life and after putting it off for years decided to finally take the plunge and head back to school to get my pre-requisites done so that I can attend medical school. As much as I love training, I feel as though I can help and affect so many more people improve their health and fitness on a larger scale by improving my educational credentials and dedicating myself to a life of practicing and researching the deeper aspects of health and wellbeing and hopefully spreading that message to other fitness professionals in the future. So this fall, my wife and I moved up to Philadelphia where I am now taking my post-baccalaureate pre-medical certificate so that I can get all the science credits I need to enter medical school. Thankfully, personal training is a profession that allows me to continue working full time even while at school full time and though it definitely makes for a hectic schedule, I am really loving life right now and everything is going great on both fronts!
On another, more personal note, my wife and I found out that we are hopefully going to have our first child in April of next year which is absolutely mind blowing! So my little remaining time has been spent with my wonderful wife who is getting more pregnant by the day. Overall, it’s been a wonderful year full of tremendous blessing and I am super excited about where everything is going. The only thing that’s missing is more posts on this blog, and I aim to rectify that starting now!
So, now that we’ve got all that out the way, let’s get to the juicy stuff!
The BEST New Fitness and Health Book That You Must Read Immediately (Slow Carb Cookbook download!)
Most of the health and fitness books that come out are either full of junk or just reiterating the same old tired fitness clichés that we’ve all heard before. However, just last week, Tim Ferriss published one of the most eye-opening books on fat loss and fitness that I’ve ever read.
The Four Hour Body is a journey of exploration into ‘body hacking’ – the art of finding the easiest possible way to change your body for the better and finally lose that fat for good. In it, Ferriss challenges some fat loss concepts that we’ve all been led to believe our whole lives (you can only lose 2 lbs a week, you should be eating whole grains, the only thing that matters is calories in vs calories out) and basically exposes them for what they really are – untrue (for the most part)! It has already immensely affected the way I design fat loss programs for my clients and I guarantee you will take away something useful from it – aside from an immensely entertaining read. I highly recommend that you go immediately and purchase a copy and in fact I feel it is so important for you to do so that I’m going to offer you an incentive to take action and do it right now!
Here’s what I’m going to do: if you go right now via the link below and buy a copy of the Four Hour Body and then mail me a copy of your receipt to losefatatwork@gmail.com I will email you right back with a FREE copy of The Slow Carb Cookbook that is FILLED with tons of amazing recipes that are the exact same ones Tim Ferriss talks about in the amazing diet mentioned in this book! The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman
Searching Deep Inside And Pursuing Your Dreams – Do You Need Motivation To Take The Next Step?
I spent the other day reading one of the most incredible books I’ve ever encountered – The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It has nothing to do with fitness or fat loss but it does have a profoundly deep and meaningful message about finding your purpose in life and pursuing it with relentless and undying passion.
If you feel as though you are not living up to your potential right now or there’s something you’ve always wanted to do but have never had the courage to make happen, read this book and prepare to be ready to achieve anything you want. Profound and life changing in every way. It’s only 6 bucks on Amazon, which is ridiculous. Go get it now!
The Fat Loss Nutrition Tip That Will Take You Less Than a Minute A Day To Do But Will Result In HUGE Results!
And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. I picked up this tip in Tim Ferriss’s new book (the same one mentioned above) and have been using to great success with my clients. We all know how keeping a food journal sucks and is almost impossible to keep up, right? Well, this tip will help you reap all the benefits of keeping a photo journal with about 1/100th of the time investment.
It’s simple – every time you are about to eat something simply whip out your camera phone and snap a picture of it.
Not only does this create a vivid photo diary for you to track exactly what you ate, it also acts as a great deterrent when you’re about to slam that pop tart into your mouth. Having to take that moment to whip your camera out gives you just enough time to ask yourself “do I REALLY need to eat this right now”? Try doing this for a day or two and then look back at your photos to get an idea of how you REALLY eat. The results are likely to be quite shocking.
Well, that’s about it for this mammoth New Year’s post! Hopefully you’ve gained some new tips and insights that will help you have a more successful year than ever when it comes to your fat loss.
